ESG ratings assess a company’s performance on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, providing insights into its sustainability and ethical impact. These ratings are derived from a company’s policies, practices, and outcomes in areas such as carbon emissions, labor practices, corporate governance, and community engagement. Investors, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies use ESG ratings to evaluate the long-term risks and opportunities associated with a company. By integrating ESG ratings into investment decisions, stakeholders can promote responsible business practices and contribute to sustainable development while aiming for favorable financial returns.
As the co-founder and CTO of Qlytics, Brendan led the design and development of an advanced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting solution to support client’s including Moody’s and S&P. This solution integrated multiple components including web querying, document acquisition, and indexing apps, supported by a custom built Text Analysis Tool (Q-Deep-NLP) and custom-built NLP rules. Documents were collected, securely stored and processed in AWS S3, with results validated and scaled through document/text processing algorithms. The solution features a comprehensive ESG Reporting Dashboard that aligns and visualizes criteria based on industry frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and UNGC, providing scores and rankings against industry peers. The framework allows users to adjust weights on responses to derive overall ratings, with results accessible through a secure API.
This solution was designed by Brendan Reilly, who also managed the development with a dedicated team of developers, ensuring successful project execution and integration with tools like Jira for task tracking and milestone management.
